A history teacher from New Jersey is facing serious charges for allegedly engaging in inappropriate behavior with minors, including paying a 16-year-old boy for nude photos and offering money for sex. Jack Wilder, 26, who worked at a charter school in Plainfield, was arrested after authorities discovered disturbing conversations and explicit material on his phone, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of New Jersey.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Wilder used Snapchat to communicate with a 16-year-old boy and offered to pay him for nude photos. The teenager allegedly sent explicit images in exchange for money. Additionally, Wilder reportedly offered $100 to the teen for sex, but the boy declined the offer.
Upon returning from a trip to Iceland, Wilder was detained by investigators at a New York airport. They found explicit images of young males on his phone, leading to his arrest. Despite initially denying the allegations, a search warrant executed later revealed more incriminating evidence, including child sexual abuse material.
Wilder appeared in Newark federal court and was remanded into custody. He is facing charges of possession of child pornography and enticement of a minor, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. The school where he was employed has not been disclosed, and it is unknown if any disciplinary action has been taken against him.
