Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniel, the casting duo behind Greenstein/Daniel Casting, have a proven track record of creating some of TV’s most memorable ensembles. From the success of the Hulu comedy “Shrill” to the Netflix hit “Never Have I Ever,” Greenstein and Daniel have consistently delivered top-notch talent to the small screen. However, their latest project, the Netflix rom-com “Nobody Wants This,” presented a new and exciting challenge for the pair.

“Nobody Wants This,” created by Erin Foster, follows the story of a seemingly mismatched couple played by Kristen Bell and Adam Brody – she’s an agnostic host of a sex podcast, he’s a Rabbi. Despite their differences, the two must navigate their new relationship amidst the skepticism of friends and family. The success of the show heavily relies on the chemistry between Bell and Brody, who have previously worked together in various projects. The ensemble cast also includes talented actors like Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, Tovah Feldshuh, and Sherry Cola, adding depth and humor to the series.

Greenstein and Daniel, who have been collaborating for two decades, believe that their partnership brings a unique perspective to the casting process. “Casting is so subjective, and to have two sets of eyes on an audition always helps with perspective,” notes Daniel. Greenstein adds, “We really respect each other’s opinions, and it’s always great to talk it out when discussing our casting or other business decisions. We bounce well off each other and luckily – usually – have similar taste and vision.”

The process of casting “Nobody Wants This” was a meticulous one, with Bell already attached to the project. The top priority was finding the perfect actor to play opposite Bell as Noah, ultimately leading them to Adam Brody. Chemistry reads were crucial in finalizing the cast, with actors like Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons standing out during auditions. The chemistry between the cast members was essential in creating a believable and engaging dynamic on screen.

One of the most challenging roles to cast was Sasha, with Greenstein and Daniel auditioning numerous actors before finding the perfect fit in Timothy Simons. The duo emphasizes the importance of preparation, strong choices, and making the role your own during auditions. They encourage actors to bring their unique perspective to the character while staying true to the script.

Overall, “Nobody Wants This” is a testament to Greenstein and Daniel’s ability to assemble a talented and cohesive ensemble. Their dedication to finding the right actors for each role shines through in the success of the show. Aspiring actors auditioning for Greenstein and Daniel should be prepared to showcase their talent, make bold choices, and leave a lasting impression that could lead to future opportunities in the industry.
