Norma Dumont, the Brazilian women bantamweight, recently shared her thoughts on the possibility of former UFC champion Ronda Rousey making a comeback to MMA. Rousey, who hasn’t fought in the UFC since her defeat to Amanda Nunes in 2016, has been teasing a return with training videos on social media. However, Dumont believes that the conditions are not right for Rousey to come back.
In an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Dumont expressed her doubts about Rousey’s return. She mentioned that the current crop of female fighters in the UFC are stronger and bigger than before, making it challenging for Rousey to make a successful comeback. Dumont stated that she doesn’t see any upside for Rousey in returning to the octagon.
When asked about Rousey’s desire to prove herself, Dumont suggested that Rousey complains too much and lacks the motivation to return to MMA. She also dismissed the idea of a potential fight between her and Rousey, confidently stating that Rousey wouldn’t stand a chance against her.
Meanwhile, Rousey made headlines recently for criticizing popular podcaster and MMA commentator Joe Rogan. On the Bertcast podcast, Rousey questioned Rogan’s expertise in fighting, claiming that he has never actually fought and dismissing his background in Taekwondo as not being sufficient for real fighting. However, Rogan, who has a wealth of fighting experience and has trained in various martial arts, including Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has competed in regional competitions before transitioning to other projects.
As speculation continues to swirl around Rousey’s potential return to MMA, it remains to be seen whether she will indeed make a comeback to the octagon. In the meantime, fans and fighters like Norma Dumont will continue to share their opinions on the subject, adding fuel to the ongoing debate in the MMA community.
