North Carolina’s “Sexiest Collard Farmer” Contest Takes an Unexpected Turn
Contestants vying for the title of North Carolina’s “sexiest collard farmer” are in for a surprise twist this year. The competition, hosted on the Facebook page “The State You’re In,” has taken a controversial turn due to concerns over nudity.
Defending champion Lee Berry submitted a daring photo of himself wearing nothing but collard greens, expecting to clinch the crown once again. However, the organizer feared that the image might violate Facebook’s community standards and decided to limit its exposure.
Similarly, contestant David Correll’s risqué photo was also moved to the comments section, sparking confusion among participants. Despite no explicit content, the organizer opted for a more family-friendly approach for future competitions.
As the voting deadline approaches, Patrick Brown of Brown Family Farms has emerged as the front-runner with over 3,500 votes. The competition, with more than 20 contestants, aims to raise funds for Hurricane Helene victims through a calendar featuring the entrants’ photos.
While Berry and Correll may not secure the crown this year, they emphasize that the competition is all in good fun. “It’s all for laughs and to have a little fun,” Correll said, highlighting the lighthearted nature of the event.
Overall, the “Sexiest Collard Farmer” contest continues to garner attention and support, showcasing the quirky and vibrant spirit of North Carolina’s agricultural community.
