A shocking incident at a North Dakota hotel has sparked a state health investigation after a hotel worker was caught dumping bed sheets into a hot tub. The worker claimed it was to remove stains but guests were left horrified by the unorthodox laundering method.
Guests at the Expressway Suites in Fargo witnessed the worker loading sheets into the chlorinated water and mixing them with a broomstick poolside during their stay. The hotel claimed that the hot tub was used to remove stains from the linen, emphasizing that the sheets put on guests’ beds are washed traditionally.
Despite the explanation, guests were appalled by the sight. One guest, Alex Kenmille, expressed his disgust at the situation, questioning if they were expected to sleep on those sheets. The incident was captured on video and has since gained attention, leading to a state health investigation.
The hotel management clarified that the hot tub is only used as a last-resort method to clean bedding and that employees are instructed to do so only when the pool is closed. However, senior hotel workers admitted that the worker had been reprimanded for performing the task in front of guests.
Health experts have warned about the potential risks associated with using a hot tub for washing purposes, citing concerns about bacteria breeding in the water. The Centers for Disease Control highlighted that hot tubs can be a significant source of diseases if not properly maintained.
