Chairman of Nassau University Medical Center Fired Following Burglary
Following a burglary at the home of Nassau University Medical Center Chairman Matthew Bruderman, where documents related to a federal corruption probe were stolen, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman abruptly terminated his three-year tenure.
Blakeman, who had previously supported Bruderman’s claims of financial misconduct at the hospital, met with FBI Director Kash Patel to launch the federal investigation. The county executive did not disclose the reason for Bruderman’s firing but wished him well in his future endeavors.

Dr. Irina Gelman will replace Bruderman as the new Chair of Nassau University Medical Center, with Blakeman praising her professionalism and qualifications for the role.

Bruderman, who claims to have exposed corruption at the hospital, alleges that his firing was politically motivated. Despite the challenges, he remains proud of the progress made during his tenure.
Following the burglary at his home and the theft of sensitive documents related to the federal investigation, Bruderman remains focused on ensuring accountability for corruption and protecting the hospital’s staff and patients.
