Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fast bowler Nuwan Thushara set the tone early in the IPL 2025 match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by dismissing debutant Matthew Breetzke for a paltry score. The game took place on Tuesday, May 27, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Thushara’s breakthrough came on the fourth delivery of the third over in LSG’s innings. Despite aiming for an away-swinging yorker, the ball ended up as a low full toss. Breetzke, attempting to drive the ball, missed completely as it crashed into the stumps, giving RCB an important early wicket.
The right-handed batsman managed to score 14 runs off 12 balls before departing, leaving Lucknow at 25/1 after 2.4 overs.
In response to Thushara’s early success, RCB stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. Rishabh Pant, coming in at number 3 for LSG, immediately launched an aggressive counterattack against Yash Dayal. Pant hammered a six and two boundaries in the fourth over, accumulating 18 runs in that brief spell. At the time of writing, LSG stood at 55/1 after six overs, with Mitchell Marsh on 15 and Pant on 20.
