Nvidia Expands Manufacturing Operations in the U.S. for AI Supercomputers

Nvidia has announced a significant expansion of its manufacturing capabilities in the United States, with plans to build and test AI chips in Arizona and Texas. This move is part of the company’s efforts to shift a portion of its production to the U.S., with more than a million square feet of manufacturing space being commissioned for this purpose.

The chipmaker has revealed that production of Nvidia Blackwell chips has already begun at TSMC’s chip plants in Phoenix, Arizona. Additionally, Nvidia is in the process of constructing “supercomputer” manufacturing facilities in Texas, partnering with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas. In Arizona, the company is collaborating with Amkor and SPIL for packaging and testing operations.

According to Nvidia, mass production at the Arizona and Texas plants is expected to increase over the next 12-15 months. Over the next four years, the company aims to produce up to half a trillion dollars worth of AI infrastructure in the U.S.

CEO Jensen Huang stated, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain, and boosts our resiliency.”

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
