The 2025 NWSL regular season is in full swing, with week 12 providing plenty of thrilling action as teams vie for points before the upcoming summer break. Individual performances have been key in shaping the outcomes of matches, and the latest round of fixtures saw some standout displays from players across the league. Here is a look at the best XI from week 12, as selected by the analysts at Attacking Third.

In goal, Anna Moorehouse of the Orlando Pride earns a spot for her stellar performances between the posts. Moorehouse has been a key figure in Orlando’s success this season, leading all goalkeepers in save percentage and clean sheets. Her presence in goal instills confidence in her teammates and has been instrumental in the Pride’s strong run of form.

Defensively, Reyna Reyes of the Portland Thorns FC stood out for her commanding display against the Washington Spirit. Reyes led her team in total touches and was a rock at the back, nullifying opposition attacks and providing a solid foundation for her side. Joining her in defense are Kayla Sharples of the Kansas City Current, who continues to impress with her defensive prowess, Emily Sams of the Orlando Pride, and Cori Dyke, also of the Pride, who put in solid performances to help secure clean sheets for their teams.

In midfield, Sam Coffey of the Portland Thorns FC and Kenza Dali of the San Diego Wave FC showcased their skills with standout performances. Coffey was influential in midfield, dictating play and winning balls for her team, while Dali was a driving force for the Wave, leading the team in touches and getting on the scoresheet early on in the match. Briana Pinto of the North Carolina Courage also earns a spot for her impactful performance off the bench, scoring the game-winning goal to secure a vital victory for her team.

Up front, Ludmilla of the Chicago Stars FC impressed with a brace of goals, showcasing her goal-scoring prowess. Esther Gonzalez of Gotham FC continued her impressive form with another brace, solidifying her position as the league’s top scorer. Barbra Banda of the Orlando Pride rounds out the team of the week with a game-winning goal to keep her team in the mix at the top of the table.

Overall, week 12 of the 2025 NWSL season provided plenty of exciting moments and standout performances from players across the league. As the season progresses, fans can expect more thrilling action and top-class displays from the best players in women’s soccer. Banda is a force to be reckoned with on the pitch, regardless of the minute of the game. Her presence alone poses a threat to change the course of a match, making her a valuable asset to any team fortunate enough to have her on their roster.

Under the guidance of Coach Vlatko Andonovski of the Kansas City Current, Banda has flourished and become a key player for the team. Andonovski’s strategic coaching style has helped propel the team to the top of the league standings. With players like Lorena guarding the net and Temwa Chawinga leading the attack, the Current have proven themselves to be a formidable force in the league.

The NWSL Supporters Groups have also played a significant role in the success of the league. As the teams celebrate theme nights and special events, the supporters groups ensure that important causes like Pride Month are recognized and celebrated. In a time of political unrest and social activism, the supporters groups are leading the charge in promoting inclusivity and supporting marginalized communities.
