A shocking incident of elder abuse was uncovered this week in Long Island, as an 83-year-old woman was brutally mistreated by her caretaker, leading to the caretaker’s arrest, according to Nassau County Police. The victim’s guardian had become suspicious after noticing bruises on the elderly woman, prompting them to install surveillance equipment in her Woodmere home.
The footage captured by the camera revealed the caretaker, identified as Merlyn Fredericks, violently assaulting the helpless senior citizen by yanking her and striking her on the face and body. The victim, who suffers from a cognitive disorder, was visibly bruised when her guardian confronted Fredericks on the morning of February 19th.
