Motorist Busted for Hand-Drawn Registration Papers

It seems that one New York driver took arts and crafts to a whole new level when he hand-drew his car’s registration and inspection papers using markers and crayons. Gregory Cawley, a 50-year-old resident of Lafayette, found himself in hot water after New York State Police noticed something fishy about his license plates.

Upon running his plates, the police discovered that they actually belonged to a 2011 Chevrolet Express, not the Jeep that Cawley was driving. This discrepancy led to Cawley being pulled over for further investigation.

During the traffic stop, officers were shocked to find that the registration and inspection papers displayed in Cawley’s windshield were crudely hand-drawn using a mix of pen, marker, and crayon. The police described the artwork as having an “impressive amount of confidence,” but ultimately, it did not pass as valid documentation.

As a humorous reminder, the New York State Police issued a statement on Facebook emphasizing that “arts and crafts supplies do not count as valid documentation.” Cawley was subsequently ticketed for various violations, including operating a motor vehicle without inspection, operating an unregistered vehicle, and improper plates.
