NY Rep. Mike Lawler Criticizes NY Democrats and Teases Governor Run

During his “Festivus” airing of grievances, GOP New York Rep. Mike Lawler roasted state Democrats and hinted at a potential run for governor in 2026.

Lawler took aim at Governor Kathy Hochul, criticizing her for being the most unpopular governor in the country and increasing the state budget by over $50 billion in less than four years. He also mocked New York City Mayor Eric Adams for a bribery indictment and targeted other politicians for various issues.

In his humorous video, Lawler teased a possible run for governor against Hochul, suggesting that he might be the candidate to beat her in the upcoming election. He also highlighted his top grievances of 2024, including criticisms of fellow politicians and government spending.

Lawler’s “Festivus” tradition, inspired by the TV show “Seinfeld,” is part of a larger trend of politicians using humor and satire to address political issues and government waste. Other politicians, like Sen. Rand Paul, have also used the occasion to highlight wasteful government spending.

Overall, Lawler’s bold critiques and playful jabs at his political rivals showcase the unique blend of humor and politics that defines the “Festivus” tradition.
