A fresh winter storm is set to hit the Northeast just as another one exits the region, bringing snow and ice with it. Winter weather alerts have been issued for areas spanning from the eastern Rockies and Dakotas to New York City and Boston.
The FOX Forecast Center is predicting heavy snowfall across the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes on Saturday, with temperatures in the teens creating light, powdery snow that can easily blow and drift. Cities like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Detroit could see their biggest snowstorm of the winter so far.
The storm system will then move towards the Northeast on Saturday night, bringing with it another round of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.
Pennsylvania is once again expected to be heavily impacted by ice, similar to the first storm. New England will see heavy snow through the first half of Sunday, with over 6 inches predicted for areas north and northeast of New York City.
Rain is likely south of Interstate 70, particularly in the Ohio Valley and central Appalachians. The central Appalachians are at risk of heavy rainfall due to already wet soils and expected ample rain in the short term, according to the FOX Forecast Center.
