This week in Brooklyn, a disturbing development unfolded in the search for a missing child after a police canine discovered human blood near a refrigerator in the boy’s family’s apartment, according to law enforcement sources.
The 11-year-old boy, who is autistic, had been reported missing from his residence on Howard Avenue close to Sutter Avenue in Brownsville. Neighbors had not seen him for several weeks, which led the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) to initiate a wellness check on September 25.
Upon the arrival of ACS workers, the boy’s mother opened the door but did not provide his birth certificate, although she appeared cooperative otherwise, sources reported.

During the case workers’ investigation, no evidence was found indicating that the boy resided in the apartment, sources disclosed.
ACS personnel made a second visit to the home on Wednesday, accompanied by NYPD officers, the sources revealed.
When questioned about her son’s whereabouts, the mother reportedly became furious and claimed to have no children and lived alone, according to sources.
Ultimately, NYPD detectives deployed a K9 unit into the apartment, which identified traces of human blood in proximity to the refrigerator, as stated by the sources.
Despite the blood detection, the boy was not found at the residence, and the inquiry remains ongoing, as confirmed by the police.
The boy’s mother was taken to a hospital as an “emotionally disturbed person,” although, as of Friday morning, no criminal charges had been filed against her, sources indicated.
