An incident of random violence shook the streets of the Bronx on Sunday, as a 62-year-old man was viciously attacked with a boxcutter while waiting to cross the street in Parkchester. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was standing at Hugh Grant Circle near Metropolitan Avenue around 2:20 p.m. when the assailant struck without warning, slicing the man’s right ear with the sharp blade.
The perpetrator, identified as Joyner Javon, a 33-year-old individual with a history of emotional disturbances, was swiftly apprehended by the authorities following the attack. Javon was subsequently charged with assault in connection to the incident.
Law enforcement officers combed the area and located Javon not long after the assault took place. A gray boxcutter blade, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered at the scene by the police.
