A terrifying incident occurred in Queens early Friday morning when a woman was raped at knife-point while walking home. The 50-year-old victim was approached by a stranger wearing a shirt with the words “Scary Ghost Face” on it at 162nd Street and 89th Avenue in Jamaica. The attacker threatened her with a knife before committing the heinous act around 3 a.m. The suspect then fled south on 89th Avenue, leaving the victim in stable condition as she was taken to a nearby hospital.
The shocking news of the assault has left residents in the neighborhood on edge. Dario Martinez, an elderly retiree who has lived in the area for over 20 years, expressed his shock but not surprise at the incident. He emphasized the importance of being cautious, especially at night, due to the dangers in the area. Another resident, Carmen, shared her fear of going outside, stating that she avoids leaving her home after 6 p.m. unless she has a vehicle to transport her safely.
In contrast, Latrenda Frazier, a strong 58-year-old caregiver, vowed to defend herself fiercely if faced with a similar situation. She emphasized her determination to fight back and protect herself at all costs. Frazier expressed sympathy for the victim, acknowledging the trauma she must be enduring. The alleged rapist is described as a light-skinned male between 20 and 30 years old, standing 5-foot-6, weighing about 120 pounds, with black hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with a white Adidas logo, black and white Air Jordan 3 sneakers, and a black sweatshirt with red lettering.
