A horrifying incident took place on a Brooklyn subway platform in the early hours of Monday morning, as a group of young teenage girls launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on an elderly man. The 76-year-old victim was lying on a bench at the Rockaway Avenue subway station when the five suspects began punching and kicking him around 2:10 a.m.
One of the perpetrators went even further, using her scooter to strike the man’s head in a brutal assault. The attack, which took place on the northbound C line platform, left the elderly man in need of medical attention. Thankfully, he was taken to the hospital in stable condition following the incident.
The suspects, believed to be between the ages of 16 and 20, fled the scene on foot after the assault. While there were six young women in the group, police confirmed that five of them actively participated in the attack. The NYPD has released surveillance images of the suspects, including one individual dressed in all black who can be seen riding a scooter on the train platform.
In response to this heinous act, authorities are offering a reward of up to $3,500 for any information that leads to the apprehension of the violent group. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
