Robert Brooks: Tragic Death at the Hands of Corrections Employees
Robert Brooks tragically lost his life in a brutal attack allegedly carried out by New York State Corrections employees. What makes this situation even more shocking is the exorbitant salaries some of these officers are earning, as revealed by TMZ.
Brooks, an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in upstate NY, succumbed to asphyxia due to compression of the neck during a violent incident on December 10. A preliminary autopsy report pointed to the guards and other prison workers as responsible for the attack that led to his death.
Bodycam footage from the staff captured the brutal assault on Brooks inside the facility, where he was mercilessly beaten while restrained and gagged. Prior to this tragic incident, Brooks was serving a 12-year sentence for felony assault.

The shocking revelation came from state employee compensation records, indicating that eight out of fourteen Department of Corrections workers are earning six-figure salaries, while the rest are making between $70,000 and $89,000.
Some of the notable salaries from 2022 and 2023 include Sergeant Glenn Trombly ($149,185), Officer David Kingsley II ($147,745), and Officer Nicholas Kieffer ($118,151), among others.
Following the incident, 13 employees have been suspended without pay, and one officer, Anthony Farina, has resigned. Governor Kathy Hochul has directed the corrections commissioner, Daniel F. Martuscello, to initiate the termination process for the remaining active prison workers involved in the tragic event.
This unfortunate incident sheds light on the need for accountability and reform within the corrections system to prevent such tragedies from recurring in the future.
