Nadya Suleman, known as “Octomom,” is speaking out about the unwanted fame that came with being the mother of the first set of octuplets born in 2009.
In a recent interview, Nadya revealed that she never sought fame and that being a single mother of 14 children brought her unwanted attention and criticism, leading to death threats and hate.
Contrary to popular belief, Nadya was not seeking fame but rather struggling with shyness and dreaming of pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology. The overwhelming spotlight eventually led her to seek help in rehab.
After overcoming her challenges, Nadya is now sharing her story through two upcoming Lifetime shows, “I Was Octomom” and “Confessions of Octomom,” with the support of her children.
Nadya, who already had 6 children before giving birth to the octuplets, reached out to the public for financial support in 2009, earning her the nickname “Octomom.”
The controversy surrounding Nadya’s octuplet birth stemmed from Dr. Michael Kamrava implanting 12 embryos via IVF, exceeding the standard practice of only implanting 2 embryos. Dr. Kamrava later had his medical license revoked for his actions.
