Multiple individuals sustained injuries in a significant explosion that occurred on Saturday at a senior living apartment complex in Austintown, Ohio.

The explosion, which caused substantial damage to the Phoenix House apartment building, happened shortly before 1 p.m., as reported by Fox 8.

Assistant Chief Tom O’Hara of the Austintown Fire Department informed the outlet that several individuals were injured, but there were no immediate reports of fatalities.

A resident named Cindy Duke described the explosion to FOX 8 as feeling like a bomb went off.

Another resident, Don Lampley, who is a double amputee, stated in an interview with the outlet that he was watching a football game with a friend when they heard a loud blast followed by a powerful explosion.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the explosion.
