The highways of Oklahoma just gained an extra layer of protection.

On Monday, Republican Governor Kevin Stitt unveiled that law enforcement had apprehended 130 illegal immigrant truck drivers during a state-wide sting operation. This enforcement initiative was a collaborative effort between the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), taking place primarily on Interstate 40 in Western Oklahoma.

A significant number of these drivers possessed licenses issued by states known for their lenient immigration policies, commonly referred to as sanctuary states, and hailed from various nations, including India, China, Russia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

One particularly noteworthy case involved a commercial driver’s license (CDL) that had the bewildering label “No Name Given” where a driver’s name should typically appear. As Governor Stitt pointedly remarked:

If New York wants to hand out CDLs to illegal immigrants with “No Name Given,” that’s on them. The moment they cross into Oklahoma, they answer to our laws.

According to KFOR, the operation was under the umbrella of “Operation Guardian,” which aims at targeting illegal activities along Interstate 40. This campaign highlights the serious issues related to commercial truck driving licenses acquired under dubious circumstances.

Governor Stitt emphasized the potential dangers of unqualified drivers on the roads: “If New York wants to distribute CDLs to illegal immigrants with ‘No Name Given,’ that’s their choice. But once they enter Oklahoma, they must adhere to our laws.”

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s Brian Bingman further raised concerns about the competence of illegal immigrants managing CDLs, stating that “Inability to read road signs written in English can lead to accidents. This negligence poses a significant risk for Oklahoma drivers.”

This crackdown aligns with broader efforts from the Trump administration aimed at stemming the tide of illegal immigrants gaining access to commercial driving licenses. Notably, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently halted employment visas for foreign truck drivers following incidents involving illegal immigrants, including a tragic accident caused by a driver who had entered the country unlawfully.

As previously reported by The Gateway Pundit, this sudden policy change comes on the heels of a fatal collision attributed to a driver of Indian descent, who made an illegal U-turn, prompting renewed scrutiny over the issuance of CDLs.
