Hu Yong, a formidable flyweight MMA contender from China, is gearing up to face Danny Kingad and put his iron chin and durability to the test. The highly anticipated showdown between these two fighters is set to take place at ONE Fight Night 40 on February 13 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Known for his knockout power, Hu Yong has made a name for himself in the 135-pound MMA division with impressive victories over top contenders like Geje Eustaquio and Eko Roni Saputra. His ability to finish fights in a devastating fashion has established him as a dark-horse contender in the flyweight division.
On the other hand, Danny Kingad, a respected name in the division, has never been knocked out in his career and has faced some of the toughest opponents in the flyweight category. Despite Kingad’s reputation for durability, Hu is confident that he can be the one to hand ‘The King’ his first knockout loss.
“I believe my strengths lie in my stand-up striking and my never-give-up spirit. I think standing strikes are my signature strength. If I were to fight standing up, I’m confident that I could knock out everyone,” Hu confidently stated in a pre-event interview with ONE Championship.
Hu is banking on his sprawl-and-brawl style and believes he has the upper hand in striking exchanges against Kingad, who is known for his wushu expertise. While Hu acknowledges Kingad’s experience and well-rounded skills, he also sees a weakness in his opponent’s game – a lack of fight-ending power.
Unlike Kingad, whose fights often go the distance, Hu’s fights rarely make it to the final bell due to the destructive power he brings to the cage. He expressed his disregard for Kingad’s killer instincts, stating, “My opponent’s advantage is his extensive experience and well-rounded skills, but at the same time, he lacks a signature finishing move.”
Fans can catch all the action live as ONE Fight Night 40 will be airing in U.S. primetime for free on Prime Video for subscribers in North America. This highly anticipated matchup between Hu Yong and Danny Kingad is sure to be a showdown of epic proportions, with both fighters looking to make a statement in the flyweight division.
