Two individuals took a dive into the waters of NYC on Saturday, with at least one of them meeting a tragic end in separate incidents.
On Saturday morning around 8:30 a.m., the first man plunged from the Williamsburg Bridge into the East River, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.
The unidentified man was rescued from the water by the FDNY and rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition, but sadly, he did not survive, officials reported.
Another individual, whose identity and age were also unknown, was seen by witnesses jumping into the river from a Randall’s Island ferry landing at approximately 12:20 p.m., fully dressed and with a backpack, according to the police.
Despite efforts by the NYPD aviation and scuba units to search the water for the man, he remained unaccounted for at that time, officials mentioned.
