The Denver Fire Department is currently responding to a fire at the Windsor Gardens apartments located near East Alameda Avenue and South Clinton Street. The incident took place on Friday evening.

According to Ahmid Nunn, Denver Fire spokesman, one individual has been rescued from a first-floor unit, where the fire is suspected to have originated. The victim has been transported to a nearby hospital, although the extent of their injuries remains unknown at this time.

As of 6:45 p.m., firefighters are actively searching for hotspots and continue their efforts to bring the fire under control.

Several residents within the 55 and over apartment community are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation, Nunn stated.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke within the first-floor unit.
