Samsung is gearing up to resolve the rollout issues with its latest UI, One UI 7, and there are talks of a potential switch in the default AI assistant on future Galaxy smartphones.

The rollout of One UI 7 has faced some challenges, with a bug causing delays in the wider rollout to older Galaxy models. However, there is good news for Samsung Galaxy S25 series owners as Samsung is close to completing major work on One UI 7. According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung has pushed the ‘YD9 firmware’ to the South Korean Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is said to be the final full version of One UI 7.

The final version of One UI 7 includes stabilisation improvements in charging, camera, and terminal operations, along with security enhancements. Additionally, new features such as Media Player widget support in the notification menu and Now Bar, as well as a new charging animation, have been added. While the latest iteration is currently rolling out in South Korea, it is expected to be available globally in the coming weeks.

In other news, Bloomberg reports that Samsung is considering replacing Google’s Gemini AI assistant with Perplexity AI in future One UI updates. Perplexity AI is in discussions with Samsung to integrate its AI assistant into Samsung devices, following a similar agreement with Motorola. This potential partnership could see Perplexity becoming the default AI assistant on Samsung devices and being promoted in the Galaxy Store.

The move to switch AI assistants could impact Samsung’s relationship with Google, which has a strong presence in AI and a close partnership with Samsung. Despite this, Samsung’s investment arm, NEXT, has previously invested in Perplexity, indicating a willingness to explore new AI partnerships.

Overall, Samsung is making strides to address One UI 7 rollout issues and potentially introduce a new AI assistant to its lineup of Galaxy devices. The tech giant continues to innovate and adapt to meet the evolving needs of its users.
