A suspect injured in a shootout with Craig police
According to a recent police department news release, a suspect was wounded in a shootout with Craig police after brandishing a gun near officers on Saturday morning.
Police were called to a house in east Craig at 8:43 a.m. in response to reports of a male suspect armed with a handgun. Upon arrival, they found the suspect actively brandishing a firearm, leading to an exchange of gunfire between him and an officer. The suspect was struck and injured during the altercation.
Emergency medical care was provided to the suspect on the scene before he was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
The identity of the suspect and the officer involved has not been disclosed by Craig police. Additionally, details regarding the charges faced by the suspect and any other potential injuries resulting from the incident have not been confirmed.
The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid leave while investigations are being conducted internally and by the 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team, as stated by the police department.
