OnePlus has officially entered the tablet market with the release of its latest device, the OnePlus Pad 2. Following the success of its predecessor, the OnePlus Pad, the company has introduced an upgraded version that promises to deliver an even better user experience.
The OnePlus Pad 2 was unveiled on 16 July 2024 and is now available for purchase in the US and Europe. The launch price for the tablet was $550/£500, but it may now be available at a lower price point. The original OnePlus Pad was priced at $499/£449, so the Pad 2 offers improved features at a slightly higher cost.
Design-wise, the OnePlus Pad 2 retains the metal body with curved edges and a round camera block that was featured in the original model. The tablet is now available in a new Nimbus Gray color, replacing the Halo Green option. The display has been upgraded to a larger 12.1-inch 3K screen with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate and 900 nits of brightness. The addition of six stereo speakers enhances the audio quality of the device.
Under the hood, the OnePlus Pad 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and Wi-Fi 7. The tablet runs on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14, offering features like Content Sync, clipboard sync, notification sync, AI Eraser 2.0, Smart Cutout 2.0, and AI Summary.
In terms of cameras, the OnePlus Pad 2 features an 8Mp front-facing camera and a 13Mp rear camera, similar to its predecessor. The device is equipped with a 9510mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging, although European buyers will need to purchase a charger separately.
Overall, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a significant upgrade over the original model, offering improved performance, display quality, and features. With its sleek design, powerful hardware, and enhanced software capabilities, the OnePlus Pad 2 is a compelling option for users looking for a premium Android tablet.
