The OnePlus 13 marks a new era for OnePlus, with the introduction of AI Plus Mind as a key feature in its OxygenOS user experience. This new feature, along with the dedicated repository called Mind Space, is designed to enhance user interactions with the device by analyzing screenshots and extracting key information to offer dynamic actions.

During a closed event, OnePlus’ Director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy, Arthur Lam, discussed the company’s AI strategy moving forward. Plus Mind is just the beginning, with plans to expand its capabilities and integration into OxygenOS. The feature is set to debut on the OnePlus 13s in key Asian markets, including India, before rolling out to other devices via OTA software updates.

Plus Mind offers users the ability to easily create calendar entries, curate and group screenshots, and access the original source data with just a tap. The feature will be accessible via a new hardware button called the Plus Key on the OnePlus 13s, while existing devices can utilize a three-finger swipe gesture for the same actions.

In addition to Plus Mind, OnePlus is working on AI VoiceScribe for call transcription and translation, AI Call Assistant for real-time assistance during calls, and an AI Translation app for various translation needs. The company is also introducing AI Best Face 2.0 for better group photos and a Private Computing Cloud for secure data handling.

Looking ahead, OnePlus plans to further personalize the AI experience with the integration of an LLM (Large Language Model) into OxygenOS. This will enable more personalized results and experiences tailored to individual preferences. Future phases will focus on better recommendations, suggestions, and deeper AI agent integration for a more proactive user experience.

While the advancements in AI technology are exciting, the question remains whether users are willing to entrust more of their digital lives to the AI on their smartphones. OnePlus is betting on a future where AI plays a central role in enhancing user experiences and making everyday tasks easier and more efficient.
