During a Weverse livestream from a hotel room on Wednesday, July 8, BTS’ J-Hope inadvertently created a humorous moment. The ceiling light behind him appeared to form a crown around his head, resembling the Statue of Liberty.
After a viewer highlighted this in the comments, J-Hope found it amusing and responded by holding up a hairdryer and mimicking the iconic statue’s pose with a serious expression.
This lighthearted moment quickly gained traction on social media, with fans sharing memes of J-Hope as the Statue of Liberty, affectionately dubbing it “the statue of hobity”.
Below are some fan responses to the playful incident:
Following their successful concerts in London earlier this week, BTS is preparing for their next shows in Germany. The band is scheduled to perform at Munich’s Allianz Arena this weekend, on July 11 and 12, Saturday and Sunday.
BTS’ concert ban in Chile has been reversed by the government
In other news related to BTS’ Arirang World Tour, the Chilean government, which had previously denied permission for the band to perform at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, has now decided to reconsider the decision under specific conditions.
The rejection, announced by Chile’s Sports Ministry on July 2, cited “technical and continuity criteria” as the reasons. The proposed 360-degree stage was believed to potentially damage the grass pitch, making it unsuitable for future sports and civic events scheduled for the year.
Although alternative venues were suggested, none could accommodate the 48,000 attendees initially expected for the concert.
In response, BTS fans, known as ARMYs, staged peaceful demonstrations in Santiago, leading the government to reconsider.
On Tuesday, July 7, the Sports Ministry stated that it would reevaluate the concert’s approval if the promoter adjusts the stage’s “weight, load distribution, grass protection and construction solution.” The ministry emphasized its commitment to protecting the country’s primary sporting venue while enabling Chile to host world-class events, provided that all legal and infrastructure safeguarding measures are met.
BTS is slated to perform in Chile on October 14, 16, and 17.
