OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Gov for U.S. Government Agencies

Amidst the buzz surrounding China’s advancements in artificial intelligence, OpenAI has made a significant move by introducing ChatGPT Gov. This new version of the AI-powered chatbot platform is specifically tailored to cater to U.S. government agencies, providing them with a unique avenue to leverage cutting-edge technology.

ChatGPT Gov offers a range of features similar to those found in OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise, a tier designed for corporate use. By utilizing this platform, government agencies can deploy specific OpenAI models on Microsoft Azure commercial or government clouds. OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT Gov empowers agencies to effectively manage security, privacy, and compliance aspects, streamlining the process of securing internal authorization for utilizing OpenAI tools for handling sensitive data.

According to OpenAI, since 2024, ChatGPT has garnered significant traction within the U.S. government sector, with over 90,000 users from more than 3,500 federal, state, and local agencies sending over 18 million messages to support their daily operations.
