Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim Address Concerns About “Little House on the Prairie” Reboot
Original “Little House on the Prairie” actors Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim are reassuring fans that the upcoming reboot of the beloved 1974 drama will stay true to its roots.
In a recent interview with Remind, Arngrim, known for her role as Nellie Oleson, shared that fans have expressed both excitement and concern about the reboot. Some are thrilled about the new adaptation, while others fear it may tarnish the legacy of the original series.
Arngrim reassured fans by explaining that the reboot will not be a traditional remake. Instead, it will closely follow the original books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, offering a fresh perspective for a modern audience. This approach aims to honor the source material and alleviate the worries of die-hard “Little House” fans.
Concerns about straying too far from the original story were addressed by Arngrim, who emphasized the involvement of executive producer Trip Friendly. As the son of the show’s original producer, Ed Friendly, Trip is dedicated to preserving the authenticity of the series and ensuring that it stays true to its roots.
Butler, who portrayed Almanzo Wilder in the original series, echoed Arngrim’s sentiments by highlighting the unique approach of the new creative team. He acknowledged that while the reboot may offer a different viewing experience, it will capture the essence of the beloved classic in a contemporary context.
Arngrim concluded the interview by revealing that none of the original cast members will be returning for the reboot. However, she expressed openness to making a cameo appearance, jokingly suggesting that she is finally old enough to play Mrs. Oleson.
The much-anticipated reboot of “Little House on the Prairie” was officially greenlit by Netflix in January. With Rebecca Sonnenshine as showrunner and a talented team of producers on board, including Susanna Fogel and Danna Fox, the new adaptation is set to captivate audiences with its nostalgic charm and fresh perspective.
