Production has officially begun on the highly anticipated prequel series “Power: Origins.” The Starz drama series is set to have an exciting first season consisting of 18 episodes, currently being filmed in New Jersey. Joining the cast are six talented actors in recurring roles, who will be seen alongside the previously announced leads Spence Moore as Ghost, Charlie Mann as Tommy, and MeKai Curtis as Kanan, reprising his role from “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”

The new additions to the cast include Jennifer Ferrin, known for her work in “The Knick” and “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” as Kate Egan, Lizzy DeClement from “New Amsterdam” and “Divorce” as Jill Wexler, Lenny Platt from “The Dutchman” as Lenny Seidell, Armani Gabriel from “Blue Bloods” as J-Boogs, Everett Osborne from “Why Did I Get Married Again” as Omay Moreau, and Jason Dirden reprising his role as Traymont Stinson from “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”

“Power: Origins” will delve into the early lives of Ghost, Tommy, and Kanan as they navigate the complexities of the New York drug trade. Showrunner Sascha Penn, along with executive producer Courtney Kemp, co-wrote the pilot episode. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television, with Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, and Pete Chatmon also serving as executive producers.

Here are some character descriptions for the new additions to the cast:
– Kate Egan (Jennifer Ferrin): Tommy’s mother struggling with addiction, with Tommy dedicated to caring for her.
– Jill Wexler (Lizzy DeClement): A nurse with big dreams and a complicated past who falls for Tommy.
– Lenny Seidell (Lenny Platt): A charismatic businessman involved in the fitness industry and steroid distribution.
– J-Boogs (Armani Gabriel): A street-smart and loyal associate of Ghost and Tommy.
