Ozzy Osbourne’s Family Upset Over Restrictions on Death Certificate Tribute

Jack Osbourne recently shared a story on his podcast “Trying Not To Die” about the struggles he and his sister Kelly faced while filling out their father’s death certificate. Ozzy Osbourne, known as the Prince of Darkness in the music industry, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy as a songwriter and performer.

During the process of filling out the death certificate, Jack and Kelly were asked to list their father’s occupation. They debated what to put down, eventually settling on “songwriter, performer.” Jack then jokingly asked if they could add “Rock God” as his father’s occupation.

The registrar found the request amusing but ultimately had to decline, stating that they couldn’t include “Rock God” on the official document. Jack also tried to add his father’s famous nickname, Prince of Darkness, only to be told that it couldn’t be included either.

This restriction was due to the presence of the Royal Family in England, where the death certificate was being processed. The registrar explained that they couldn’t use the title “Prince” in reference to Ozzy Osbourne because of the existence of the Royal Family.

Despite the lighthearted nature of the request, the Osbourne family was disappointed that they couldn’t include these unique and fitting titles on Ozzy’s death certificate. The incident highlights the challenges that families face when trying to honor their loved ones in a personal and meaningful way, even in official documentation.

While the Osbourne family’s wish for a harmless final tribute to the Prince of Darkness was blocked, they continue to celebrate and remember Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy in their own way.
