A tragic incident occurred at Rampart Reservoir near Colorado Springs as rescue crews recovered the body of a paddleboarder who fell into the water during a wind storm. The Colorado Springs Fire Department swiftly responded to the reservoir after witnesses reported the man falling into the water and disappearing. Despite efforts to search for him, the man’s body was found underwater early Sunday morning by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife water rescue team.
Unfortunately, this marks the 30th water-related death in Colorado in 2024. Grant Brown, CPW Boating Safety Manager, expressed condolences to the victim’s family and friends, emphasizing the importance of wearing life jackets near bodies of water. Brown highlighted the dangers of falling into cold water, which can cause cramping and hinder a person’s ability to swim.
The identity of the victim will be disclosed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, while authorities continue to stress water safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
