India and Pakistan are on the brink of war, with tensions escalating after a series of drone and missile attacks. The Indian defense ministry announced that they had successfully neutralized Pakistani attacks on military targets in the north and west of the country. In retaliation, Indian forces targeted air defense systems in Pakistan, including knocking out an air defense system in Lahore.

Pakistan claimed to have shot down 25 Indian drones near various cities, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries to Pakistani soldiers. The armed forces spokesperson vowed that India would pay for their aggression. This comes after India conducted air strikes against Pakistan following a militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which India believes is linked to Islamabad.

Both countries are recovering debris from the attacks, with tensions escalating as Pakistan accuses India of increased firing over the Line of Control in Kashmir. The international community, including the US and EU, has urged both countries to de-escalate tensions to avoid a nuclear standoff. US President Donald Trump has offered to mediate between the two sides.

In response to the escalating conflict, India’s armed forces have stated their commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan respects it. Pakistan’s foreign minister claimed that Chinese jets were used to shoot down Indian fighter jets, including French-made Rafale aircraft. India’s government has warned about misinformation coming from Islamabad.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review national security preparedness in light of recent developments. This includes strengthening civil defense mechanisms and ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. The situation remains tense as both countries navigate the delicate balance of power in the region.
