Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding have just returned from a rejuvenating holiday and are feeling refreshed as they reflect on their successful spring 2025 preview. Despite the challenges many fashion brands are facing in the current retail landscape, their business is thriving. The duo credits part of their success to the valuable feedback they have received from their direct-to-consumer website.
Their website’s chat widget has provided them with invaluable insights into their customer base. Harding notes, “It’s very easy to forget that the clothes actually have a purpose out there in the world. If you just focus on the creativity, that’s really fun for you, but not necessarily great for people to buy into.” This feedback has allowed them to better understand the needs and desires of their clientele.
During a recent trip to Paris, they discovered that one of their top clients, who owns 15 Palmer Harding shirts, also owns three works by artist Richard Serra. This revelation further solidified the designers’ connection with their customers and validated their creative work. Palmer remarks, “When you have those relationships with your consumer, you really get to understand their point of view and their mindset. It’s exciting, it validates the work that you do.”
The spring 2025 collection is designed with their customer in mind, focusing on versatile pieces that seamlessly fit into their wardrobe. The collection features separates and dresses crafted from cotton, light-wash denim, and taffeta, embodying a casual yet sophisticated aesthetic. Harding describes their approach as “very sculptural, very hands-on fabric,” emphasizing Palmer’s innovative draping techniques.
The collection was inspired by the concept of a “lover’s embrace,” symbolized by two semi-circles manipulated to create new silhouettes. The garments feature curved panels, signature flounces, tied waists, and fluid sleeves that evoke a sense of calm and unity. The nautical palette reflects the designers’ vision of multiple forms converging into one cohesive whole.
The final look of the collection, a cobalt dress with an asymmetric peplum, embodies the essence of Palmer Harding’s design philosophy. It represents the harmonious blending of different elements, much like the designers themselves and their diverse customer base. As they continue to evolve and innovate, Levi Palmer and Matthew Harding remain committed to creating fashion that resonates with their loyal following.
