CJ ENM and TBS to Premiere Co-Produced Unscripted Series “Mugen Loop”
CJ ENM, the Korean entertainment giant behind the Academy Award-winning film “Parasite,” has teamed up with Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) to bring audiences their first collaborative unscripted series, “Mugen Loop” (“Infinite Loop”). The exciting new show is set to debut on March 24 and promises to deliver a thrilling and unique viewing experience for audiences worldwide.
“Mugen Loop” is a high-concept game show that will challenge six contestants, including Koko from the popular K-pop girl group Izna, in a hexagon-shaped environment filled with endlessly connected, identical rooms. Contestants will face a series of increasingly difficult challenges in a bid to win unlimited prize money. However, failure will result in elimination through group voting, adding a layer of psychological warfare as contestants not only battle the challenges but each other as well. Only one contestant will emerge victorious and claim the entire cash prize.
Jangho Seo, executive VP of the content business division at CJ ENM, emphasized the importance of creating unique and engaging content for global audiences. He stated, “As more Korean unscripted shows gain international acclaim, it is essential to develop ideas that are both distinct and captivating for viewers. ‘Mugen Loop’ is a bold and innovative show that addresses these challenges head-on.”
The concept for “Mugen Loop” was born out of a strategic partnership between CJ ENM and TBS, with Jun Fukai, director of global Sales and development at TBS Holdings, highlighting the collaborative efforts of both networks in shaping the show. He explained, “The project came to life through the collaboration of top creators from CJ ENM and TBS, with each network contributing their unique strengths to bring this groundbreaking show to fruition.”
Seungyong Nam, executive VP of the non-scripted division at CJ ENM, expressed confidence in the show’s potential, likening it to the success of “Genius Game” while emphasizing the innovative approach taken by the production team. He stated, “‘Mugen Loop’ is a result of the creative fusion of talented individuals from different backgrounds, resulting in a truly original and never-before-seen concept that will captivate audiences worldwide.”
