Amazon is in the process of developing a romantic comedy series titled “Aught to Be,” as exclusively reported by Variety.
This half-hour show is produced by the Tornante Company, with Paris Hilton serving as an executive producer through her banner, 11:11 Media. The series draws inspiration from Andrew McMahon’s popular song “Konstantine,” and McMahon, known for his work with bands such as Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, will also be an executive producer.
In addition to his producing role, McMahon will provide original music along with his classic hits for the series. Reports indicate that Hilton is currently in negotiations to take on the role of the narrator, although this arrangement hasn’t been finalized yet.
The official synopsis for “Aught to Be” reveals that it “chronicles one couple’s enduring love story as experienced through memorable pop culture events that defined the early 2000s and beyond. Each episode highlights pivotal moments in their relationship amidst cultural phenomena like TRL, Sidekicks, and the dawn of social media, combining heartfelt storytelling with the soundtrack of an entire generation.”
Pat Cunnane serves as the creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the series. Alongside Hilton, Bruce Gersh of 11:11 Media will also be an executive producer, together with Tornante’s development head Adam Londy and its team members Eric Eisner and Evan Lesser. Production is being handled by Amazon MGM Studios.
