Paul Heyman has clarified the status of Brock Lesnar’s retirement from WWE. The 49-year-old athlete battled Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam, concluding their prolonged rivalry.

Their conflict started on the road to WrestleMania 42, where The Ruler defeated Lesnar in under five minutes at the grand event. After the match, Lesnar hinted at retirement, suggesting a farewell.

Nevertheless, he returned about a month later, defeating Femi in a rematch at Clash in Italy. The decisive encounter at SummerSlam saw the Nigerian contender prevail over The Beast.

Post-match, Lesnar appeared on the Pat McAfee Show, affirming his retirement. His long-time manager Paul Heyman discussed this retirement on the Six Feet Under podcast with The Undertaker.

The podcast episode was recorded shortly after the summer event, where Heyman expressed his acceptance of Lesnar’s decision. He described the former WWE Champion as a realist.

“Brock has always been a realist about himself, and it’s time. I would hear this every year from him: ‘Nope, this is my last contract. This is it.’ And he meant it when he said it. And as we got closer, he would then change his mind, or it didn’t take a lot to talk him into it,” he said.

Heyman believes that this time, Lesnar’s decision to retire is final, as he has firmly resolved to leave.

“But I knew that this was it. Because he knew that this was it, he wasn’t just saying it because he felt it at the moment. This decision was fait accompli,” he added.

Heyman’s comments suggest that Lesnar’s retirement from WWE could indeed be permanent.

The Undertaker Defends Brock Lesnar Against Criticism

In the discussion with Paul Heyman, The Undertaker defended Brock Lesnar against claims that he lacked passion for wrestling.

Due to his part-time schedule and television persona, many fans believed Lesnar was indifferent to wrestling. However, The Undertaker dismissed these assumptions.

He contended that Lesnar doesn’t receive enough recognition for his commitment to wrestling, pointing out that many critics are uninformed.

The Undertaker argued that people often think Lesnar’s focus was on money or limited appearances, but he truly loved the wrestling business.
