Detained for Suspected DUI

Boston Celtics icon Paul Pierce was taken into custody on Tuesday, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
As per CHP reports, officers discovered Pierce slumped over in the driver’s seat of his Range Rover, which was stopped in traffic on the 101 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley.
Authorities noted that lanes had been closed due to an ongoing crash investigation, and Pierce was found shortly after they were reopened at approximately 11:35 PM.
“Officers observed signs of impairment due to alcohol,” the CHP reported, “prompting a DUI investigation.”
Pierce was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, which violates California Vehicle Code 23152(a), and was transported to the CHP Central Los Angeles Area office.
The Hall of Famer, who had a 19-season NBA career, has not yet released a statement regarding this incident.

“The Truth” has been active in the sports media landscape since retiring, recently making headlines for agreeing to walk to his Fox job in West Los Angeles from his home in The Valley after losing a bet pertaining to a Celtics playoff game.
Pierce was let go from Fox earlier in the summer and has since made few appearances on television.
