PBS Distribution alongside Blink Films has finalized sales for the intriguing titles, “Ultimate Crash Test” and “Terror on the Space Station,” gaining traction ahead of the upcoming Mipcom event.
The collaborative effort between PBS Distribution and Blink Films is founded on “a mutual dedication to compelling storytelling, global appeal, and creative integrity,” according to both companies. Their previous successful projects include “Concorde: The Untold Story,” “Chernobyl: New Evidence,” and “Easter Island Origins,” each blending investigative narratives with stunning cinematography.
“Ultimate Crash Test,” produced by Blink Films for Nova in collaboration with GBH, Channel 4 in the U.K., and WELT in Germany, has secured acquisitions from Channel 8 in Israel, NRK in Norway, and 7 Network in Australia.
This documentary provides an exhilarating examination of engineering and safety advancements, integrating genuine crash tests with insights from experts. It comes at a crucial time, coinciding with the automotive industry’s swift evolution towards electric and self-driving vehicles, emphasizing the importance of road safety.
On the other hand, “Terror on the Space Station,” another Nova production in partnership with GBH and France Television, narrates a gripping incident that nearly led to disaster aboard the International Space Station. This show taps into the growing global fascination with space exploration, aligning with a resurgence of government and private initiatives in this domain.
The series has been picked up by several broadcasters, including SBS in Australia, Red Bull Media House in Austria, RTL in Luxembourg, RTI in Italy, SVT in Sweden, YLE in Finland, and TVN24 in Poland.
“These programs capture the essence of why our partnership thrives: innovative concepts, thorough storytelling, and relevance to audiences worldwide,” remarked Tracy Beckett, commissioning editor at PBS Distribution. “We are thrilled to see these titles already making waves across various regions.”
Dan Chambers, creative director at Blink Films, expressed his enthusiasm: “PBS Distribution is an exceptional partner for Blink. Together, we aim to create and deliver content that satisfies the growing demand from global broadcasters for premium, high-stakes factual programming that merges scientific exploration with human stories. We are excited about these recent successes and are in the process of developing multiple ambitious initiatives with PBS that we anticipate will resonate well with international markets.”
