A Woman Killed on Interstate 25 Near Mead

Tragedy struck early Saturday morning on northbound Interstate 25 near Mead, as a woman was fatally struck while checking on another driver, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The incident occurred at 5:34 a.m. near mile 243, just two miles south of Mead in Weld County.

According to reports, the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling north in the acceleration lane from Colorado 66 onto I-25 when he veered to avoid a wrecked vehicle. This caused him to drive over the fog line on the right shoulder, resulting in a collision with a 26-year-old woman who was assisting another driver.

Tragically, the woman lost her life at the scene, while the 64-year-old Honda driver emerged unharmed, as confirmed by state patrol officials.

Further details regarding the Honda driver, such as whether he was cited or arrested following the incident, were not immediately disclosed.
