Authorities report that a man allegedly targeted a teenage girl as she made her way to school in the Bronx on Thursday, threatening to reveal compromising images of her to coerce her into a secluded area. He then forced her to remove her shirt before performing a lewd act in front of her, ultimately offering her $20 afterwards, according to law enforcement sources.
The accused, Oneil Kennedy, 45, approached the victim, who is 14 years old, while she was walking towards Bronx Alliance Middle School around 8:20 a.m., as reported by authorities and sources.
Kennedy allegedly pressured her into a hidden spot within Seton Falls Park by stating, âI have a picture of you and your friends. If you donât want me to show it, follow me,â according to the sources.
In the secluded area, the suspect reportedly instructed the girl to lift her shirt before engaging in a lewd act in front of her, sources claim.
Afterward, Kennedy allegedly handed the frightened girl $20, telling her, âI will see you on Mondayâ as he fled the scene, according to the sources.
The victim, though not physically harmed, immediately went to her school to inform her teacher about the incident, sources added.
Police apprehended Kennedy approximately 11 hours later, charging him with endangering the welfare of a child, public lewdness, stalking, and harassment, as stated by law enforcement.
Kennedy has a history of legal troubles with seven previous arrests, which includes a forcible touching case from 2010 involving a 16-year-old victim, according to police.
This incident comes in the wake of another disturbing event in the Bronx, where a man named Xavier Chapman, 30, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 19-year-old woman in Belmont while she sat on a park bench.
He now faces charges of rape, sexual abuse, and harassment as reported by the police.
In Brooklyn, Justin Lee, 22, is another suspect who allegedly attempted to rape a 12-year-old girl inside a Coney Island apartment building, just days after being released without bail for similar offenses, as reported by authorities.
