There is a certain quality about Pete Buttigieg that seems to irk Donald Trump. Buttigieg, not being the typical aggressive personality that would typically attract Trump’s attention, seems to have somehow gotten under the former president’s skin. With Trump having a lot of time on his hands since leaving office, he has been able to focus on those who bother him, and Buttigieg seems to be one of them.

During a speech at CPAC, Trump made a statement about Buttigieg, saying, ā€œWe even got rid of people like Pete Buttigieg, who did the worst job of anybody in the history of transportation.ā€ This comment comes at a time when there have been concerns about the safety of US transportation, with an alarming number of plane incidents occurring. It is easy to see how Trump may be trying to shift the blame onto Buttigieg for his administration’s failures in this area.

Buttigieg, however, has not been silent in response to Trump’s attacks. He has been vocal in his criticism of Trump’s early presidency, questioning the motives behind the firing of FAA personnel and inspectors general. Buttigieg’s dedication to public service and his credibility as a veteran may be qualities that Trump finds threatening, as they are attributes that Trump himself lacks.

It is also worth noting that Buttigieg is rumored to be considering a run for the Michigan US Senate seat, which could explain Trump’s attempts to tarnish Buttigieg’s reputation before any potential candidacy. Regardless of Trump’s motives, it is clear that Buttigieg has managed to get into Trump’s head, and perhaps that is reason enough for the rest of the country to support Buttigieg and his efforts to hold Trump accountable.

What exactly is it about Pete Buttigieg that upsets Trump? It could be his dedication to public service, his credibility, or simply the fact that Buttigieg represents everything that Trump is not. Whatever the reason, it is clear that Buttigieg has managed to ruffle Trump’s feathers, and that is something worth paying attention to.
