During Navy’s thrilling 34-31 victory against Air Force on Saturday in Annapolis, Maryland, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made headlines with a record-setting event.
Leading a pushup challenge involving cadets, officers, and fans, Hegseth’s initiative achieved a new Guinness World Record.
His remarkable achievement of 3,068 pushups surpassed the prior record for the most individuals performing pushups simultaneously for one minute.
This win not only saw Navy triumph over Air Force’s football team but also allowed them to reclaim the pushup record from the Air Force Academy.
The former record stood at 2,926, established by the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on April 20, 2023, as reported by Guinness World Records.
Hegseth’s accomplishment was celebrated on social media.
On Saturday, Hegseth was an integral part of the event’s festivities for Navy’s football team.
Following the game, he participated in the postgame celebration, delivering an enthusiastic locker room speech to the players after their exhilarating win.

The win boosted Navy’s record to 5-0, putting them in a strong position to secure the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy, awarded to the victor of the round-robin competition between the Navy, Air Force, and Army service academies.
Navy aims to secure the trophy during the annual Army-Navy game on December 13.
Earlier on Saturday, Hegseth made headlines by terminating the navy chief of staff Jon Harrison, who had taken office in January.
