A neighborhood in Philadelphia was rocked by an explosion in the early hours of Sunday morning, leaving behind a trail of destruction as captured in heart-wrenching images.
The Philadelphia Fire Department shared photos from Nicetown–Tioga, a community in North Philadelphia, where Acting Chief Daniel McCarty described how three row houses “imploded” around 4:30 AM ET.
The images depict firefighters battling the blaze and the charred remains of homes scattered across the streets.
In a poignant moment captured, a dog is seen navigating the rubble, a stark contrast to the devastation surrounding it.
According to a report by the local ABC affiliate, a woman tragically lost her life in the explosion, with two others sustaining injuries.
We’ve opened a reception center at Edward T. Steel Elementary with the @RedCrossPhilly for those who are displaced while we continue broader assessment of the neighborhood and utilities. Our thoughts are with those impacted by today’s incident. https://t.co/PmFBikB8mZ
