The music industry is no stranger to controversy and mystery, but the emergence of AI-generated bands has taken things to a whole new level. One such band, The Velvet Sundown, has sparked intrigue and confusion with their seemingly AI-generated music and enigmatic online presence.

Initially denying any claims of being AI-generated, The Velvet Sundown later admitted that it was all an “art hoax” orchestrated by their creator, Andrew Frelon. However, Frelon himself later refuted this claim, leading to even more confusion surrounding the band’s origins and authenticity.

Amidst the chaos, suggestions have been made to fully embrace the AI aspect of music creation. Names like Rage I’m a Machine, The Bitles, and TL(LM)C have been proposed, with additional suggestions such as Pink Floppy Disc, Lana DEL Array, Captchatonia, and Alanis Microsoft. The idea of a performer named Weird AI Yankovic to spoof these AI-generated bands adds another layer of humor to the situation.

In a separate yet equally intriguing development, a study claiming to have found archaeological evidence for the biblical tale of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was recently retracted. The study suggested that a Tunguska-sized airburst event destroyed the Bronze Age city of Tall el-Hammam in Jordan, but errors in methodology and interpretation led to the retraction of the paper.

Criticism and corrections over several years culminated in the retraction, with manipulated images and failure to consider alternative explanations for the findings cited as key reasons. This serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of thorough research and adherence to scientific standards in archaeological studies.

On a lighter note, the World Avocado Organisation recently defended the nutritional and environmental benefits of avocados in response to Wimbledon’s decision to stop serving them. While praising avocados for their nutrient density and support of small farms, it’s important to consider the source of such praise coming from an organization dedicated to promoting avocados.

The world of music, archaeology, and even avocados continues to surprise and entertain us with its twists and turns. As new developments unfold and mysteries unravel, one thing is certain – there’s never a dull moment in the world of science and entertainment.
