Hardware manufacturer Plaud has unveiled their latest innovation, the Plaud NotePin S, just in time for this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. This new AI notetaker comes with a desktop app designed to streamline note-taking during digital meetings.

Originally introduced in 2024, the pin-styled notetaker has received positive feedback, especially for its physical button feature that allows users to start and stop recordings with ease. Additionally, users can tap the button to highlight specific points during the recording, a functionality also available on the newly launched Plaud Note Pro.

Priced at $179, the Plaud NotePin S comes with a variety of accessories including a clip, lanyard, magnetic pin, and wristband, allowing users to wear the device in a way that suits their preference. The device also boasts Apple Find My support, making it easier to locate if misplaced.

Despite maintaining the core specifications of its predecessor, including 64GB of onboard storage and a battery life of 20 hours of continuous recording, the Plaud NotePin S features two MEMS mics capable of capturing clear audio within a range of 9.8 feet. Users also receive 300 minutes of free transcription per month.

Compared to the Note Pro, the NotePin S has a shorter recording range and lower battery life, but its compact size and portability make it ideal for individuals on the go. Plaud emphasizes that this device is tailored for those with busy schedules who need a reliable notetaking solution.

This latest offering marks Plaud’s fourth device, with over 1.5 million units sold to date. While previous devices have focused on in-person meetings, Plaud is expanding its reach to compete with meeting notetakers like Granola, Fathom, and Fireflies by introducing a new desktop client compatible with various meeting apps. The desktop app can detect active meetings and prompt users to capture transcripts efficiently.

The Mac app utilizes system audio to capture meetings and utilizes AI to structure transcriptions into notes. Building on the success of multimodal inputs introduced last year, users can now incorporate images and typed notes alongside audio transcriptions using the desktop app.

In conclusion, Plaud continues to innovate in the realm of notetaking technology, providing users with efficient solutions for capturing and organizing information during meetings. The integration of AI and user-friendly features sets the Plaud NotePin S apart as a versatile tool for professionals seeking to streamline their workflow.
