Plimsoll Productions, a division of ITV Studios, has introduced a new digital arm called Plimsoll Digital. The division will be spearheaded by Ged Mansfield, a seasoned executive at Plimsoll. Mansfield, who will hold the position of creative director of development and digital, will report to Alan Eyres, head of Plimsoll USA.
The focus of Plimsoll Digital will be on developing digital formats and exploring emerging technologies, with a particular emphasis on responsible uses for generative AI to empower creatives. Mansfield will leverage the company’s extensive programming archive and library footage, which includes a variety of genres such as natural history, adventure, documentary, and factual entertainment. Additionally, he will collaborate with ITV Studios’ digital content label Zoo 55, which manages Plimsoll’s presence on platforms like YouTube and FAST channels.
Alan Eyres expressed confidence in Mansfield’s abilities, stating that his talent for combining vision, production expertise, and compelling narratives makes him the ideal leader for crafting engaging stories across different platforms. Eyres emphasized the company’s commitment to embracing new tools and formats to enhance authentic storytelling.
Mansfield brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as creative director of development at Plimsoll Productions. His portfolio includes successful projects such as “A Real Bug’s Life” for Disney+/National Geographic, “Tiny World” for Apple TV+, and “Animal” for Netflix. Upcoming projects under Mansfield’s leadership include “Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters” for ITV1 and “Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston” for Disney+/Nat Geo.
