Authorities are currently probing a “shooting incident” that unfolded at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon.
Law enforcement arrived on the scene around 1 PM CT to address the ongoing crisis.
Initial reports indicated a substantial emergency response involving police, fire, and paramedics:
According to Fox 4 Dallas, “Three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while one person is reported to be in serious condition.”
This incident marks the second shooting at the high school, following a previous event in April 2024, when a student shot another within a classroom setting.
The Dallas Morning News noted that the school district attributed the earlier incident to both human error and systemic failures that allowed a teenager to bring a firearm onto campus. In the wake of that incident, students staged a walkout, voicing their concerns about safety, with many highlighting that the school’s metal detectors were inconsistently employed and the clear bag policy was not rigorously enforced.
At 1:25 PM, the Dallas Independent School District confirmed the occurrence of a “shooting incident.”
“Safety protocols are now in effect, and we urge everyone to avoid approaching the campus,” they stated.
